I have been fishing since I was eight years old, captivated by the adventures of Sanpei in the famous animated series. After trying various techniques, in 2009 I discovered that the one favored by the Japanese boy fisherman actually existed, so I researched it and began to practice.
The beginning wasn’t easy due to the scarcity of information available online at the time; however, this might have been more of an advantage than a disadvantage. It led me to experiment and find movements that in some cases remained the same, while in others changed over time as I learned more from Japan.
In 2015, I had the opportunity to participate in a competition organized by PescaTV to create content for their channel. I didn’t win, but I was still contacted to produce a series on Tenkara, perhaps because the format was entirely different from what was usually seen. I had created a character that represented my conscience or the part that knew everything, while I was the inexperienced and somewhat clumsy fisherman. The result was a program that could also engage those who were not interested in fishing.
Thus, "Piacere Tenkara" was born, which aired for four seasons and a total of 29 episodes. After this adventure, I opened a subscription channel on the web where, in addition to the episodes of "Piacere Tenkara," I also published a Technique course and a course on how to make Kebari (the artificial flies).
The next step was to go to Japan and fish with one of the greatest Tenkara Masters, Masami Sakakibara.
I did this twice to always have new things to learn and share (this is my mission for Tenkara), this time through the "Piacere Tenkara" channel on YouTube, where today you can find all my productions, which total over one hundred videos.
Over the years, I have demonstrated Tenkara at various events and held free courses aimed at teaching the basics of the technique. Starting in 2024, I will be the head of the Tenkara section at the Fly Fishing School (SIM).
Davide has a YouTube channel where he talks about Tenkara fishing.
