9th Tuna Cup Anzio 2026 catch&release – drifting contest for bluefin tuna using the catch&release technique

The TUNA CUP ANZIO is now well-known as a fishing event based on the Catch&Release philosophy, which is a type of fishing that does not produce victims among pelagic fish. A technique that allows preserving the species, while taking nothing away from the sporting fun of fighting prey of enormous physical strength and power. In the 2026 edition as well, there will be two competitions, one on Saturday and the concluding one on Sunday. Therefore, a double opportunity for all teams to climb to the highest step of the podium, or at least onto the podium. The winner, in addition to the trophy and the many prizes offered by sponsors, will have the right to enter the "TUNA CUP ANZIO Hall of Fame". The event organizer is the ASD Anzio Fishing Club, which will once again host the three-day event in the historical location of MARINA DI NETTUNO port, "home" since the first edition and also hosting, in addition to the teams coming from all parts of Italy, the now famous "Tuna Village", an area where the recreational, sporting, and social aspects of the event are concentrated. The Main Sponsors of the event will once again be HONDA MARINE and Garmin, who will display their products and be available to the anglers composing the teams, as well as to the public visiting the Tuna Village during those days, for information, advice, and to present new products. On the stage set up in the Tuna Village, "technical" moments will alternate with more recreational ones, such as the team briefings, talk shows with prominent figures from the nautical and fishing world, award ceremonies, refreshments, and the inevitable food and wine tastings.
