About 15 years ago, Alo approached fly fishing, intrigued by friends and athletes he worked with during the winter, and soon found himself filling that corner of his home — the tying bench — with fur, feathers, hooks, and unusual materials.
Over the years, Alo (as his friends call him) has been fortunate, during his travels, to meet interesting people who have contributed to his growth as both an angler and fly tier. He only fishes with his own flies, ranging from small mayfly imitations to large predator flies, including what he calls a “mystical experience” — Atlantic salmon.
His friendship with Armando Quazzo, a fly tier and author but above all a great friend, has certainly contributed to Alo’s growth and to a historically innovative vision in his approach to water and the fish that inhabit it.
Alo publishes photos and articles in various sector media, including Mosca e Spinning, Petri-heil, SWING the fly (together with Armando), collaborates with the publication Pescare in Valtellina, and provides content for major fly fishing companies.
In 2022, a video project was published online that he made with his friend Luigi Mautino, Glacial Waters - also a fly fishing story (on YouTube), where, together with mountaineer Marco Confortola, they try to assess the current state of Alpine glaciers, the consequences for our rivers, and reflect on what the future might hold.
