Fly Tier

Miguel Blanco Blázquez

Biography

My name is Miguel Blanco and I consider myself a fortunate guy who can say: fly fishing is my job.

I started to fish when I was 10 and tied my first fly 4 years later when I was 14. Now, many years later I became a professional fly fishing guide and fly tier.

I live in the north of Spain, In Asturias but spend most of the time in Leon, where I mostly do my work.

I'm a passionate photographer about fly tying and fly fishing, I wrote articles for fly fishing magazines or websites in different countries and I enjoy teaching other fishermen different fishing techniques. It has been a long way to come here but I have plenty of good memories, and it took me to be part of the Guideline and Semperfli families as ambassador.

When I tie flies, I'm very influenced by the Spanish and French tradition of fly tying. Minimalist small flies are the topic in my fly box, always ready to fish for our selective fish.

Being Spanish, I try to look after the traditional flies tied with Coq de Leon (or maybe should say Gallo de Leon) and I use these valious feathers in many of my flies as a signature.

I have been fishing across Europe for Trout, Seatrout, Hucho, Grayling or Atlantic Salmon and I am always eager to discover new rivers, countries and friends.

It will be my very first time being part of Pescare Show and I'm really happy about it!
