Osvaldo Gilli

Osvaldo Gilli

Biography

Born in Lodi in 1948, he currently lives nearby.

He began fishing when he was very young being the son of a professional fisherman who fished with nets.

In the 1950s it was the first time he saw a fly fisherman and was the president of ENI Enrico Mattei with a bamboo rod, fishing for Marmorate and Grayling on the Adda stretch of Lodigiano.

He began fly fishing in 1973 as a self-taught.

He bought a Veniard kit with an English explanation for building flies.

A couple of years later he met Mario Riccardi and attended his club in Pavia.

In 1984, spurred on by Riccardi, he founded 'Pescatorimoscalodi' where he is still president today.

He has collaborated with the 'Fly Fishing' magazine, the online magazine 'Confluenze' and co-author of the books 'Special construction and Construction recipes'.

The passion for construction leads him to meet Franco Cottarelli and becomes his collaborator and pro-staff member.

Also pro-staff of the GDS (artificial shaped wings).

Supporter and collaborator of I.F.T.A.

He preferably practices dry fly fishing, but does not disdain nymph and streamer if necessary.
