Hello my name is Jackie Mahon. I am a flyfishing guide and flytyer located in the west coast of Ireland where I guide full time on Lough Arrow,Lough Erne,Glencar lake and Lough Melvin.
I am also a ambassador and fly designer for Fulling Mill designing Irish style trout flies over the last few years. I have also written articles for a few fly fishing magazines and I also do regular blogs on my website.
Fly fishing has been a strong passion of mine since a very young age.I am from a family of fishermen and as they say it’s in my blood.
A big part of my childhood was spent chasing wild brown trout and salmon on the Garavogue river in Sligo Ireland. I caught my first brown trout on one of my own flies and I was literally hooked the feeling I had that day catching that brown trout with a fly rod in my hand and on one of my own flies is something I will never forget for the rest of my life. From that day on all I wanted to do was fish and tye flies.
I was blessed to be able to learn from my dad and grandfather the art of fly fishing, fly tying and dyeing materials which you can see in the flies that I tye.
On my fishing journey I represented my country on an international level and also guided and tyed the winning flies for the Irish team which helped them achieve a gold medal on Lough Melvin. I love my job and on my down time you can find me on the water fishing.
