Fabio Federighi

My name is Fabio and I live in Florence, in the beautiful Tuscany.
One of the passions of my life is fishing and since I was a child I have fished with various techniques, which then led me to fly fishing. This technique has allowed me to travel around the world: Italy, Europe, Alaska, Russia and so on hunting for trout, grayling, sea trout and salmon, but I also fish in saltwater, hunting sea bass and bluefish.
The passion for fly tying was so immediate that it led me to range between the various kinds of flies: nymphs, dry flies, wet flies, streamers, salmon and hyper-realistic flies, as well as artificial ones from the sea.

For several years I have been writing fly tying articles in various sector magazines and I have written the "Manual of the modern manufacturer of artificial baits" together with Gianluca Nocentini. My flies are also in several foreign books, such as "Flytyers of the World".

Among the most beautiful experiences I participate in every year, there is the Fly Festival in Europe, where I find myself building together with great foreign tyers. Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Ireland and England are some of the countries where these events take place, without excluding the American experience in Somerset New Jersey at the Fly Tying Symposium.

I am part of the pro teams of Ahrex, Deer Creek and Swiss CDC.

With the friend Federico Renzi and in collaboration with Eddy Peruzzo, we organize the FLY TYING EXPERIENCE within the Pescare Show, the most important fly tying festival in Italy, with the best international and Italian fly-tyers.

Surely fly fishing is the passion of my life: a healthy activity that has given me the chance to live and see the world, to be able to appreciate and love nature in its beautiful shapes, and also to allow me to meet many wonderful people. Fly Tying is, therefore, an activity that gives me the opportunity to create something and to use manual skills. I think fly tying is therapeutic and a deepening of our passion. I really wish everyone would experience fly fishing in all its shades.
