Stefano Ticchiati

My name is Stefano Ticchiati, I was born in 1974 in La Spezia.

I started fishing at the age of six, thanks to my father, practicing all kinds of fishing until the mid-nineties, when I started fishing only with the fly technique. My land is closed between the Apennine mountains and the Mediterranean sea, which has allowed me to give vent to my passion both in fresh and salt water. The places I usually frequent are the rivers of Lunigiana and the coasts of Liguria and upper Tuscany capturing trout, chub, sea bass, dolphinfish, small tuna and many other marine species.

I have fished in most of Italy and I have travelled and fished in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and France, but the land I prefer to fly fishing is Denmark where I can catch the fish of my dreams: the sea trout. For these reasons I build various kinds of flies: submerged shoals, nymphs, streamers and, sometimes, for fun, I build salmon flies and Carrie Stevens style flies.

I am currently part of the pro staff of "Ahrex" and "Swiss cdc". I had the pleasure of participating as a fly tier in various events including several editions of the Fly Tying Experience and at the E.W.F. of Monaco.
