Tiziano Racasi

Born in Bussolengo (Verona), in 1956 I started fishing in the traditional way around the age of 12 because my father, for fear that I would approach hunting, gave me my first fishing rod saying "So you don't think about hunting."

My journey began in a traditional way, enrolled in a fishing club I did the internal competitions at the club but most of the time I spent on the banks of the Adige that flanks my municipality. At the age of 30, I frequented the hunting and fishing shop in the town, I began to catch a glimpse of fly fishing and pushed by my fishing friend shopkeeper, we began to tour the waters of Friuli and then Austria. I did the first rudiments of artificial construction techniques and the first throwing course in a gym in a neighboring municipality and I remember that he threw himself with the book under his elbow. In 1992 we started fishing in Slovenia and Croatia but I was more and more aware that I was absolutely not happy with my way of casting because I was struggling a lot and the fly arrived and landed where it wanted. Following the insistence of a friend, already associated with SIM, in 2007 I enrolled in one of his courses. From there, a journey began that led me to get to know many facets of throwing and to arrive, not without difficulty, at a good level. Instructor license in 2010 with Claudio Tosti, then DT of the SIM. I must say that all this training, assisted by the valid SIM instructors, has helped me a lot in fishing. At the same time, I was able to meet and learn from many people around Italy and from many people who have given prestige to fly fishing.

Teaching to throw to those who want to dedicate themselves to this technique gratifies me a lot because I understand, from personal experience, that alone it is difficult to achieve good results and without a continuous and constant commitment you do not have full mastery of the equipment. Seeing a student who, listening to my words, manages to juggle better where he was previously stuck is very gratifying for me. It has been decades since I took the first course but the desire to learn from every little gesture, from every other instructor or student, yes because you also learn from them, has always remained the same as my first course.
