Marino di Luca

I was born in Alanno (Pescara) in 1955, a few years lived with my father, died very young, were enough to pass on the passion for the river.

My first approach to fly fishing dates back to the 70s, the opportunity to try for a few hours a used fly rod, loaned to me by the hunting and fishing shop in my country and two small chub caught were enough to make me fall in love with this technique. but the equipment and material for fly fishing were expensive and difficult to find so I was forced to return to the old fishing system.

In 1976 I managed to buy a rod and a tail, naturally the shopkeeper took the opportunity to get rid of the stock that until then he had not been able to give to others; I tried to learn something self-taught, unfortunately the progress could only be glimpsed in the construction of lures.

Finally in 1983 the luck of seeing a poster in a fishing shop in Chieti gave me the opportunity to participate in a fly fishing course organized by the FIPS section of Pescara, I didn't hesitate for a moment.

The desire to learn was so great that shortly thereafter, with the help of Osvaldo Galizia, FIPS manager of Pescara, I met Roberto Pragliola and attended the first Course for Instructors organized by the FIPS of the Abruzzo Region; was absolutely the best week of my life, crowned by the Instructor license, issued personally by Roberto Pragliola, it was the year 1987 and the SIM the Italian School of Fly Fishing was born, wanted by Osvaldo Galizia, Roberto Pragliola, from Mr. Renato Rosati, Mr. Giorgio Di Brigida and a dozen budding instructors.
