Håkan Karsnäser

My name is Håkan Karsnäser and I’m 50 years old. I live in Sweden and have been tying flies and flyfishing for over 35 years.

I have Always been fascinated by the Beautiful flies used for fishing and it was Classic wet flies that first draw my attention to flyfishing. After I’ve purchased my first flies I soon wanted to try and tie my own flies. Luckily for my, it turned out that my best friend at school was flyfishing and his father learned me how to cast with a fly rod and tie my first flies.

Over the years I’ve been producing flies for tackle shops and flyfishermen both in Sweden and in other countries. I think I have tied almost every type of fly, all from the smallest trout and grayling flies to the biggest pike flies.

The last 15 years I have tied a lot of Classic fully dressed Salmon flies and I love to play around with feathers and colors.Most of my fishing I do in a fishery Close to where I live. There is around 25 lakes stocked with the most Beautiful Rainbow trout and the scenary around the lakes are real wilderness.

I love stillwater fishing, but I also fish up North in Sweden in running water for grayling and wild trout. Sea trout fishing on the west coast of Sweden is something I try to get out to a couple of times every year.Flytying has taken me to fly fairs around the World.

I’ve been tying at shows not only in Swden, but in the UK, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Italy and USA. I’m regularely write for flyfisning Magazines in Sweden and abroad. And for the last year I’ve been working part time for Ahrex Hook Company, helping out at shows, on social media and developing hooks.
