Tuna Cup Anzio 2026

Tuna Cup Anzio 2026

The May 2026 event will mark the ninth edition of the Tuna Cup Anzio, now a well-established appointment for sport fishing enthusiasts. This drifting contest targeting bluefin tuna, practiced according to the catch & release technique, stands out for its authentic spirit: more than a formal competition, it is an opportunity to come together, experienced with lightheartedness and passion. Far from the tension of official federated competitions, the event becomes each year a moment of sharing among anglers, who gather in Nettuno, the charming setting of the event, to exchange ideas, have fun, and celebrate their shared passion for the sea.

The Tuna Cup Anzio is, of course, a competition, and like all competitions, the winner is whoever comes first. However, throughout its history, the winner has not always been the most skilled, but sometimes the luckiest—because in fishing, luck plays a big role. Those who stand on the top step of the podium not only receive valuable prizes offered by the many sponsors who have supported the event for years, but also earn a place in the original “medal table” created by ASD Fishing Club Anzio, the event’s organizing association. It is a way to remember, even years later, who won the various editions, starting from the first one in 2015.

But what exactly is the Tuna Cup Anzio?

Initially, it was a challenge taken up by the organizers: to create an event tailored for all bluefin tuna fishing enthusiasts, with the goal of becoming one of the most sought-after and anticipated events on the national scene. However, on one condition: that there would be no killing of pelagic fish, because environmental protection comes above all else. This is how the TUNA CUP ANZIO became “the Catch & Release event”, one of the most renowned in Italy, where bluefin tuna are fought alongside the boat, measured in the water, and then released, admired as they powerfully swim back to their beloved depths.

This year, the event will take place on May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, 2026, once again at what has become the “home” of the Tuna Cup Anzio: the modern and welcoming Marina di Nettuno, located in the town of the same name, about 40 km south of Rome. Three full days to be enjoyed together as always, including two competition days that allow all participants to compete and possibly overturn the provisional rankings with unexpected catches and releases. All of this is complemented by a real show that takes place in the Tuna Village, a specially created village within the marina and the true beating heart of the competition throughout the event. Here, in addition to the main stage hosting briefings, talk shows with representatives from the fishing and boating sectors, award ceremonies, and numerous food and wine moments, there will be stands from the main sponsors: Honda Marine and Garmin, both leading brands in their respective industries. Honda will be present not only with its marine division, but also with cars, motorcycles, and power equipment. Garmin, on the other hand, will showcase the best of its electronic instruments and cutting-edge technology. Both will have technicians on site ready to provide advice and detailed explanations of the equipment on display.

Alongside the main offshore competition, the Tuna Cup Anzio will also host a second event, now in its third year: the 3rd BIG RED CALYPSO TOURNAMENT, a shore-based fishing competition using a simulator provided by sponsor MG Fishing Verde&Pesca. It is an exciting way to have fun and practice, complete with dedicated prizes and trophies. Among this year’s new features is also the partnership between Tuna Cup Anzio and Pescare Show, the most important international exhibition in the fishing and boating sector.

Event Schedule:

Friday, May 22, 2026: Arrival at the marina for registration completion and distribution of competition materials. 6:00 PM briefing with crews, followed by dinner.
Saturday, May 23, 2026 – 1st Competition Day: Meeting at sea at 8:00 AM, start at 8:30 AM, end of competition at 4:30 PM. Return to the marina, refreshments (beer, mortadella, and white pizza), talk show with guests from the fishing and boating world, and publication of the provisional ranking.
Sunday, May 24, 2026 – 2nd Competition Day: Start at 7:30 AM, expected end at 3:30 PM. Upon return to the marina, while awaiting SD card checks for the final ranking, there will be talk shows with industry guests, refreshments offered by partners, and the awards ceremony, with special attention given to the podium finishers.

It is worth noting that at the Tuna Cup Anzio, all crews up to the 10th position are awarded, and additional prizes are drawn among those who did not place in the top ten. Registrations are limited, therefore interested participants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.
