Carpfishing: never give up!

Never give up: the carp that could change everything might still be out there.

There are lessons that carp fishing teaches better than any other discipline, and one of the most important is this: never lose faith.

In almost thirty years spent on the banks of lakes and rivers, I have learned that fishing offers no guarantees. You can do everything right: study the spot, choose the best bait, carefully prepare every rig, and wait for hours, sometimes even days, without receiving the slightest sign.

And it is precisely in those moments that your confidence starts to waver. You look at the clock, think about heading home, and convince yourself that this will be a session to forget. The dreaded “blank” seems inevitable.

Then something happens that only carp fishing can give you.

You start putting the landing net away, organize your gear, perhaps you are even about to take down a rod... and suddenly, the bite alarm breaks the silence. The reel starts singing, adrenaline begins to flow again, and in an instant, everything changes.

That run means much more than simply catching a fish. It is the reward for patience, perseverance, and for choosing not to give up just a few minutes earlier. It is that one fish capable of turning a difficult session into an unforgettable memory and sending you home with a smile on your face.

Carp do not follow our plans. They do not know that we have decided to end the session or that we are tired. They move according to their own timing, and often the right moment arrives when we least expect it.

That is why, every time I prepare for a session, I remind myself of one simple truth:

As long as the rods are still in the water, anything can happen.

I would especially like to leave this thought with those who get discouraged too soon. Have confidence in your choices, keep believing in the work you have put in, and do not let a few hours of silence extinguish your enthusiasm.

Sometimes, all it takes is a single run to completely change a session... and even the memory you take home with you.

Because carp fishing is also about this: hope, patience, and emotion.

And there is a sentence that has accompanied me for as long as I can remember, one that I consider to be among the truest rules of this wonderful world:

A fishing session is not over when we decide it is. It is over only when the rods have been packed away. Until that moment, the fish that could change your day might still be out there.
