There are days that start out with no great expectations and end up becoming unforgettable memories. This was one of those days.
My dad and I decided to spend a day together, armed with ultra-light gear and a strong desire to have fun. Our first stop was a small ditch I knew well — perfect for a light and easy foss-fishing session.

One of the first catches of the day — a beautiful carp caught in the ditch
From the very first casts, we knew we were in for a good time: the carp were active and treated us to some thrilling fights. Watching them bend our light rods to the handle and hearing the drag sing was pure adrenaline. And above all, fishing side by side with Dad, joking and laughing between casts, was simply priceless.
After a few nice catches and plenty of smiles, we took a break at a local tavern: a simple lunch, some typical fishermen’s chatter, and the eager thought of getting our rods back in hand right after coffee.

In the afternoon, we moved to another spot where we knew we could find barbel and chub. The barbel didn’t keep us waiting — we each caught about ten — but the real surprise came in the last few casts: two catfish! The first one smaller, the second one quite respectable, both taking the bait on our soft lures.

New spot, new fish! The barbel didn’t keep us waiting and gave us an afternoon full of fun
Fighting them on ultra-light tackle was pure spectacle: rods bent to the handle, drags screaming, and the two of us laughing like crazy trying not to let them escape.
In the end, we managed to net them both — tired but overjoyed.
A day of fishing with Dad, filled with laughter, great catches, and moments that will stay forever in our hearts.
