Beatis Dry

Beatis Dry

Ezio Celeschi shows us how to tie a Beatis Dry. Here is the Fly Tying tutorial straight from Pescare Show.

Materials:

  • Hook: Dry #14

  • Thread: Beige 12/0

  • Tail: Elk hair

  • Body: Olive synthetic dubbing and gold tinsel

  • Hackle: Brown squirrel hair palmer and natural hare

Steps:

  1. Position the tying thread near the hook bend and tie in the tail and the gold tinsel.

  2. Bring the tying thread to the hook eye area and form a loop with the thread.

  3. Insert squirrel and hare hairs into the previously created loop and twist the thread on itself to form a dubbing brush.

  4. Create the hackle by wrapping the thread with the hairs around the hook shank, moving towards the bend, covering 2–3 mm.

  5. Once finished, return with the bare tying thread (without hairs) towards the hook bend.

  6. Apply synthetic fibers to the tying thread and wrap them around the hook shank moving towards the eye, intersecting the hackles.

  7. Using the gold tinsel, make 3–4 turns up to the hackles and finish with a classic whip finish knot.

Your Baetis imitation is ready!
